Sustainable Tourism Conference

What if we started preparing for our transition in tourism? Montpellier Métropole organized the Sustainable Tourism Conference, a flagship event marking the official launch of the 2030 Sustainable Tourism Roadmap.

The result of a collaborative effort, this roadmap was developed jointly with all of the tourism stakeholders in the area, with a common goal to make Montpellier a model of sustainability and innovation in tourism.

“The future of tourism is built collectively, so every voice counts in this participatory process.” 

On the agenda

 - 1:30 p.m. - Welcome coffee

 - 2 p.m.  - Video screening: “What if we reinvented the tourism of tomorrow?” followed by a presentation of the main guidelines and objectives of the 2030 sustainable tourism strategy

  • Opening speech by Cyril Meunier, Vice-President of Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, Delegate for Tourism, Attractiveness and Congresses.
  • Highlighting the attractiveness of the region with Christophe Alaux, Director of the Chair in Attractiveness and New Territorial Marketing.
  • Round tables and discussions focusing on key issues in the sector:

➙ Tourism and sustainable transition, with Isabelle Touzard, Vice-President of Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole in charge of Ecological Transition, Biodiversity, Energy, Agroecology and Food; Laurent Cherchi, Michelin-starred chef at Reflet d'Obione; Annabelle Barthélémy, CSR Director at Appart'City; and Sandra Vernier, Director of Montpellier Events.                                               

➙ Innovation serving the tourist experience, with Richard Perdu, Marketing, Strategy, and Communications Director at Appart’City, and Julien Cadiou, Operations Director at Cool’n Camp - Septeo. 

➙ Tourism and employment, with Fabienne Bouchet, Deputy Director of France Travail; Ana-Rita Alburquerque, Senior Lecturer in Geography at the University of Montpellier Paul-Valéry and Co-Head of the Master's programme in Tourism and Sustainable Development of Territories; and Clément Gueudré, President of the Le Petit Jardin group.
